  • Search for: https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/application/auth
  • Enter your active cell phone number then click “send sms”
  • Receive an OTP on your provided mobile number 
  • Enter that OTP on website and click “verify pin”
  • Read the Declaration and Consent form carefully, then select “Agree” and click “submit”
  • Enter your South African 13 digit id number, full name and surname according to your identity document or smart id card. And click “verify identity”. If you are a special permit holder you need to enter a file number or green book number
  • Enter following personal details and click “submit”;
  • Email

  • Highest Educational Qualification
  • Employment Status
  • Disability
  • Citizenship

  • Cellphone Number
  • You will be assigned an Application ID. Note it down as you might need it in the future for updating your application details
  • The next page will be regarding payment options. The procedure varies for new and existing applicants

You can receive your grant in your bank account or you can select the cash send method.

  • For Receiving Grant Bank Account:
  • Select “Capture Own Bank Account”
  • Enter your bank account details (Bank Name, Bank Branch, Account Type and Account Number)

If you were a recipient of the SRD grant previously and are renewing the grant, your payment information will already be saved there.  You need to confirm your previous bank information and agree to the terms and conditions. Then, you can submit your application.   • Receive a confirmation message on your mobile phone. It will look like this: “Application ID: 123456, 88…081. SASSA confirms successful update of banking details for BANK NAME. Your SRD R370 Grant application is now active.”

  • Open Internet browser on your laptop, mobile or tablet
  • Search for: www.sassa.gov.za
  • Click on the “SRD R350 Grant Assistance” chatbot located on the right side of the page
  • Enter your Id number when prompted
  • Multiple options will appear in chat, you will choose “How do i apply?“
  • SASSA Assistance chatbot will give you a link to the SRD Website
  • Click on that link and follow the steps to apply through the SRD Website

SRD R370 Application Procedure WhatsApp?

Follow these steps for SASSA application for R370 grant via WhatsApp:

  • Grab your smartphone and open WhatsApp
  • Send a WhatsApp message with the word “SASSA” to 082 046 8553 using the same WhatsApp number you want to use for the application
  • Provide your personal details as prompted by the chat
  • You will receive a reference code, OTP, and a link to continue your application in your browser Note that the link will expire after 2 hours
  • Open the link, enter the OTP, and click “Verify”
  • After successful OTP verification, you will see a form with some pre-filled information from WhatsApp. Fill in all remaining fields as instructed
  • Agree to the terms and conditions and submit the application
  • Select your payment options separately by following the SRD Website method from payment options and onwards

How to Apply for R370 Grant Via SMS

If you don’t have internet access, you can still apply for the R370 grant using the SMS method. Just follow these simple steps from your phone:

  • Dial USSD *134*7737# from your phone’s dial pad
  • Type 1 if you are applying for yourself or type 2 if you are applying for someone else
  • Agree to the declaration by typing 1
  • Confirm your citizenship by typing 1 if you are a South African citizen. If you are a permanent resident or refugee, type 2 or 3, respectively.
  • Enter your information as prompted, one by one:
