SRD SASSA Application Status Online Meanings

Awaiting Identity Verification: All new beneficiaries and anyone who wishes to change details in their application has to go through biometric identity verification.
Request identity verification link and complete ID verification process.

Reasons for your Declined SRD Grant

When SASSA declined your grant, you will see a reason is also provided for declined grant which may be one of the following:

identity_verification_failed	Your identity records are not matching with the Department of Home Affairs. It usually occurs at this stage only when you have modified some information in your personal records with DHA.
exisiting_sassa_grant	You must be receiving some other sassa grants.
nsfas_registered	You are receiving benefits from national student fund aid scheme
self_exclusionary_response_found	You are receiving some grant that is more than R370 or you are staying in some government facility.
uif_registered	You are in receipt or eligible for unemployment insurance fund benefit. If you have not applied for it then do so to get UIF benefit.
gov_payroll_registered	You are employed in a government organization.
age_outside_range	Your age in that month might have fallen outside the required age for SRD grant.
referred_linked_risk_mobile	A fraudulent application has been received using the same phone number. Go and change your mobile number.
referred_safps	Your identity data is registered as a perpetrator of fraud in South African Fraud Prevention department.

Eligibility Criteria For SRD SASSA Grant 2026

Before proceeding to appeal for your declined grant, it is important to find out if your grant has been declined because of ineligibility. To qualify for SRD SASSA grant in 2026 you must:

Be a South African citizen, permanent resident, refugee, asylum seeker, or special permit holder.
Be between 18 and 59 years old.
