SASSA SRD R350 Grant vs. R370 Grant Latest Update
Do not get confused with SRD R350 grant and SRD R370 grant, both are same. Previously the amount for this grant was 350 Rands so it was popular with the name of “R350 grant”. However, starting in April 2024, the amount of this grant was increased to R370, and it is now referred to as the “R370 grant”.
South African Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana announced this increase of R20 in SRD grant and many other social grants as well on 13 March 2024 in National Assembly . He also stated that the Covid-19 relief grant will continue until March 2025, after which a decision will be made on whether to continue it further or not.

Common Causes for your Declined SRD R350 Grant
When your application status is “Application complete”, it signifies that your provided information has been verified, but it doesn’t assure monthly grant disbursements. After getting this status, your application will undergo a monthly verification process to determine eligibility for that month’s grant disbursement. This is where your SASSA R350 grant might be declined because of several reasons that might be one of the following.

identity_verification_failed | Your identity records are not matching with the Department of Home Affairs. It usually occurs at this stage only when you have modified some information in your personal records with DHA. |
exisiting_sassa_grant | You must be receiving some other sassa grants. |
nsfas_registered | You are receiving benefits from national student fund aid scheme |
self_exclusionary_response_found | You are receiving some grant that is more than R370 or you are staying in some government facility. |
uif_registered | You are in receipt or eligible for unemployment insurance fund benefit. If you have not applied for it then do so to get UIF benefit. |
gov_payroll_registered | You are employed in a government organization. |
age_outside_range | Your age in that month might have fallen outside the required age for SRD grant. |
referred_linked_risk_mobile | A fraudulent application has been received using the same phone number. Go and change your mobile number. |
referred_safps | Your identity data is registered as a perpetrator of fraud in South African Fraud Prevention department. |
If your SASSA SRD grant status check has been declined and you believe the provided reason is not applicable to you then You can appeal for reconsideration for that specific month.
What to Do If SASSA Status is Declined?
If you believe your SASSA application was unfairly declined, you have the option to appeal. You can file an appeal with the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA) within 30 to 90 days of receiving the decision.
That’s all! If successful, ITSAA will overturn the decision, allowing you to receive the SRD grant payments. They usually take 60 – 90 days to make the decision.
SASSA Payment Dates for Financial Year 2024 / 2025
It is very important to keep in mind that there is no specific payment date for the SRD grant of R370. Payday for each month can vary for each applicant that is why you are advised to use SASSA status check for R370 grant from time to time. When you will check your grant result and if you are approved for a grant for any month then you will see a payday is also written for that month in application details.
SASSA payment status check is very important to keep your finances planned according to your payday. According to my personal experience, payday for SRD grant is usually from the 20th to the end of each month.

Note: The South African Government does release these dates officially but still there can be delay in payments because of public holidays or any other unexpected circumstances. As a result, you should be prepared for potential disruptions in receiving your payments.
